Gulls over Waves by Joan Sheski, 16 x 20 It is a windy day with rising clouds, making the water surfaces pale and silvery; the gulls seem to enjoy how the wind plays with them. Opening by Joan Sheski, 12 x 14 We seem to be looking out and up from inside what might be a conch, or an oyster, or...a coral reef cave.
Sunflowers by Joan Sheski, 18 x 20 The dance of joy at being alive; where does the sky stop and the water-centers begin? Which are the birds and which the flower petals? Can you see the nature god hiding as part of a sunflower? I painted this painting without the slightest notion that an elf was in it, until about three years had passed and my husband saw the face, in profile. You never know what's going to emerge out of what I call "free-painting".
Landlight by Joan Sheski, 12 x 14 Here in the Southwest the high dry air and sunlight turn our rocks and mountains into sparkling translucent jewels; to be in the midst of it makes me feel weightless, transparant, insubstantial - the light penetrates right through everything.
Tossed Moon by Joan Sheski 12 x 14 |
